Rufus hummingbirds are small, colorful birds that are found in western North America, from Alaska to Mexico.
They are known for their bright orange-red feathers on their throats, which are called gorgets. Rufus hummingbirds are migratory birds, and they travel long distances each year between their breeding grounds in the north and their wintering grounds in the south. They are also known for their fast flight and their ability to hover in mid-air while feeding on nectar from flowers.
