A young Bald Eagle (2-3 years old, before the iconic white head develops) photographed at Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge in Portland, Oregon during golden hour. The afternoon light gave the eagle’s brown feathers such a warm gold cast that you might mistake it for a Golden Eagle at first glance — a beautiful chapter of life that lasts only a few years before the white head emerges.
