Belted Kingfisher — The Dive

Description

A fraction of a second later, wings sweeping back and down as she accelerates toward the water, head already aimed, bill in line with the body. This is the moment of commitment. She will enter the water blind: a third eyelid slides across the eye on impact, so she catches the fish from memory of where it was when she last saw it.
