Kayaking on the Willamette River
Today I spent my morning on the Willamette River and was happy to find some Kingfishers. They are very hard to photograph from land because they are very skittish. They seem less frightened when you approach them in a a kayak. I plan to try and get some more pictures of this amazing bird.
Today was a very beautiful day. I was very happy to get my first photos of a Kingfisher. Later in the day, as I was packing up to go home , someone mentioned they saw a Pileated woodpecker in the park. I grabbed by camera and listened for its distinct call. I was able to locate it by hearing its unique call. I was surprised to find one in the Sellwood Riverfront Park. It is the first time I have seen one in Portland and these are my first photographs of this large woodpecker.
