The Spotted Towhee

The Spotted Towhee is a common bird in the Northwest. It spends most of its time on the ground under bushes searching for bugs. In the Spring, the males will spend their mornings singing with everything they got to attract a mate.

Sometimes you just have to yell and let it out

All birds like to take baths. Here is a Towhee enjoying an ice cold bath.

Towhees spend most fo their time searching the ground for seeds and bugs. They have a cool dance move called the two-footed, backwards-scratching hop. They do this to remove leaves and debris to reveal bugs that they can eat.

Towhees have beautiful bright red eyes. This is one reason I wanted to get a closeup of this bird. I was able to get close to the Towhee by recording its song on my phone and playing it back. They get very curious and investigate where the sound is coming from. This allows me to get a few feet from this beautiful bird.
