Today I photographed a Kingfisher for the first time. I spotted it when I was Kayaking on the Willamette River. These birds are very skittish and not easy to photograph. You can see more photographs of this bird with a basic membership to my blog.

Kayaking has its advantages for wildlife photographers. You can paddle in water that is only a few inches deep unlike traditional boats. Kayaks are very quiet so you can approach wildlife without scaring them. I use a recreational Eddyline Sandpiper Kayak. It is great for photography because it has a wide cockpit and is very stable.
