Barn Swallows
Barn Swallows
A barn swallow is a small, agile bird known for its sleek body and long, forked tail. It has a striking appearance with a blue-black back, wings, and tail, contrasting beautifully with its reddish-orange throat and forehead. The underparts are a pale, creamy color. Barn swallows are renowned for their extraordinary flying skills, darting gracefully through the air to catch insects in flight. They are often associated with rural areas and farmlands, where they frequently build their cup-shaped mud nests on the beams and eaves of barns and other structures, hence their name. These birds are migratory, traveling great distances between their breeding grounds in the Northern Hemisphere and wintering areas in the Southern Hemisphere.
